Epic Inktober Failure

Okay, so I had planned for this post to be a nice round up and catch up of my current Inktober drawings for this year. I thought I was going to do so well, what with all my pre-planning and thumbnails. I was so ready for it this year, but then everything just came crashing down around me. Inktober fail! No excuses here. It’s my own damn fault I’m failing, although failing feels like such a harsh word but it’s exactly how I’m feeling. But why?

I really shouldn’t be putting that much pressure on myself. I mean really, who was I doing this for? It wasn’t  a client, I’m not getting paid for it. I was doing it for me, and me alone. Life gets in the way sometimes and as annoying as that it, sometimes you have to face facts and realise you can’t manage everything all the time. #berealistic #factsarefacts

I’m a busy person. Sometimes I have to prioritise important things over things I’d rather be doing.

Although saying that…whilst prompts and thumbnails helped me push some of the work out of the way, it also blocked me in. I’ve been feeling a little unmotivated to get to Inktober when I do have time, because rather than drawing what I fancy drawing I’m having to draw to a strict prompt. So I’ve made Inktober feel like work.

And after coming home from working a 10hr day, the last thing I want to do is more work! I am my own worst enemy….believe me!

This year I managed a little longer than previous years for my Inktober fail, but it is still early in the month so hopefully I’ll make it up. In the meantime, here’s two of my favourite Inktober drawings I’ve managed to complete this year.

You can find my other Inktober attempt on my Instagram page. Don’t forget to Like and Follow me to keep up to date.
